University of Oregon Crisis Communications
My team and I were tasked with creating a crisis communication plan for the University of Oregon. Beginning in January of 2015, the University of Oregon experienced a meningitis outbreak on campus, with seven total persons infected. One student, a freshman living in a residence hall, died of the infection.
The goal of this crisis communication plan is to target undergraduate students: specifically those living in the residence halls on campus, those ages 18-24 living off-campus, and those that are members of Greek life. Our goal is to make them aware of the need to be vaccinated against meningitis, improve their attitudes toward being immunized through vaccination, and to thus get these students to be vaccinated.
Included in the plan is a background of the situation, a SWOT analysis, a breakdown of the key publics, key messages, goals, objectives, strategies and tactics, evaluation methods, as well as a budget and calendar.

Monterey Bay Aquarium Volunteer Acquisition Plan
My team and I were tasked with creating a pubic relations plan for the Monterey Bay Aquarium. My group and I created a comprehensive public relations plan geared toward acquiring volunteers for the aquarium. The Monterey Bay Aquarium had just experienced great publicity because of their 30th Anniversary Celebration, and we saw this as an excellent opportunity to capitalize on that positive media attention.
In the plan, we target retirees over the age of 65 living in Monterey County, as well as families with children ages 5-12 living in that same geographic area. Using a wide variety of strategies and tactics-these range from customized band-aids for pediatrician’s offices to a senior’s mixer-we have created a plan that will make these key publics aware while improving their attitude and getting them to volunteer.

As a communications intern at Levi Strauss and Co. I am tasked with creating internal presentations for publication on television screens throughout the office. The purpose of these presentations is to familiarize the employees with the company and the product, as well as to inform employees with current events within the office.

For a strategic social media course, two other students and myself collaborated to create an eBook entitled, “A Three Step Guide to Customer Outreach: Commenting, Responding & Having a Conversation.” This eBook is geared toward businesses looking to improve their transparency and voice on social media platforms.
